Roslin actor Vineeth says thriller series sparked nostalgia of Mohanlal's romantic film

Roslin: Though a thriller, the series has a dreamy setting in a hill station that reminded Vineeth of a classic Mohanlal romantic film - Namukku Parkkan Munthirithoppukal.

Actor Vineeth, one of the prominent faces in Malayalam cinema of the late 80s, is busy with back-to-back projects in Mollywood, with the thriller film Eko being his latest release. The actor also appears in a key role in the upcoming JioHotstar series Secret Stories: Roslin (also available on OTTplay Premium). Though a thriller, Roslin has a dreamy setting in a hill station that reminded Vineeth of a classic Mohanlal romantic film - Namukku Parkkan Munthirithoppukal.

Why Vineeth urges viewers to revisit Mohanlal film

In an interview with the YouTube channel One 2 Talks, Vineeth said that when he reached the location for Roslin, he felt very nostalgic. The house where Roslin was shot had a very similar geography to Namukku Parkkan Munthirithoppukal, which starred Mohanlal as Solomon, Shari as Sofia and Vineeth as Antony.

"When I entered this house, I could see Solomon, Sofia and others from Namukku Parkkan Munthirithoppukal. It is one of the finest romantic films made in Malayalam cinema, I believe. That film had scenes where Antony and Solomon went cycling. And this series also has similar geography,” said the actor who plays John in the Malayalam series. Roslin also has a cottage-like home surrounded by nursery with various animals and pigeons.

"It was like Deja Vu. If you revisit Namukku Parkkan Munthirithoppukal, you will understand what I am saying,” he added while pointing out that location also turns into characters in ace filmmakers’ movies. Vineeth was also seen in a small role in the Nivin Pauly movie Sarvam Maya.

Namukku Parkkan Munthirithoppukal is a 1986 movie, which revolves around Solomon, who falls for his new neighbour Sofia. A moving tale of romance with a heartbreaking climax, it is directed by auteur filmmaker Padmarajan. Some of the dialogues rendered by Mohanlal from the movie are still popular.

Roslin revolves around a teenage girl (played by Sanjana Dipu) who complains of seeing recurring nightmares of stalker with green eyes. Vineeth is seen as her father John, while Meena is her mother Shobha. Hakkim Shajahan plays the other lead role of Jerry, along with Anishma Anilkumar, T G Ravi and Shankar Ramakrishnan.
