Yash in the teaser of Toxic

When the teaser of Rocking Star Yash’s Toxic came out days ago, netizens had gone into overdrive to decode every frame and come up with theories for each. One of them, of course, was that Yash was playing 2, or maybe even 3, characters across generations. Two for sure, what with the introduction of Raya and Ticket, but there’s possibility of a third, they reckon, based on the different tattoos that Yash sports in the film. All of this, and that there are 5 heroines, entails a lot of detailing and story-telling prospects, leading to the speculation that Toxic will be a 2-part film.

Toxic to be a 2-part film?

Then, early this week a new rumour broke about the film’s run-time, with claims that it was only going to be 2 hours and 20 minutes long. This, many said, was too short a duration for the film, which, they then reckoned could only mean one thing – Toxic will be a 2-part film. Some challenged this, claiming that the film is a little over 3 hours long, given that the team was aiming at an English version Hollywood release. This, of course, will become clear only after the censor certificate becomes available, or ticket aggregators update said information.

The problem with the two-film theory, though, is that Yash will shortly be busy with the production of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, in which he plays Ravana. The actor’s major portions are in the second part, which is a 2027 release. As such, several netizens are convinced that Toxic is unlikely to be a two-part film.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups, is expected to be Yash’s first-ever A-rated film, given the rather graphic violence it will feature, a glimpse of which was shown in the teaser, as well as the introduction video for one of the actor’s characters, Raya. The film’s confirmed cast, so far, includes Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria, Sudev Nair and Akshay Oberoi. Kyle Paul and Darrel D’Silva are also definitely a part of the film, while Tovino Thomas is rumoured to be one of the main antagonists.
