Sai Pallavi in Gargi

Gautham Ramachandran's Gargi is one of the few Tamil films which garnered unanimous positive reviews from critics this year. The movie, which has Sai Pallavi playing the titular role, received appreciation from several quarters for its gripping screenplay, convincing performances and effective twists and turns.

The hard-hitting drama, which was dropped on SonyLIV after a month of its theatrical release, won the hearts of movie buffs who missed the film in theatres. The film has now been screened at the prestigious 44th Moscow International Film Festival. Director Gautham took to his Twitter page to share the excitement.

The movie, which was released on July 15, stood out for the performance of Sai Pallavi, RS Shivaji, Saravanan and Kaali Venkat among others. The mind-boggling climax twist is one of the highlights of the courtroom drama which has been escalated by Govind Vasantha's background score.

Suriya's production house 2D Entertainment distributed the movie in theatres across Tamil Nadu while Ravichandran Ramachandran, Thomas George, Aishwarya Lekshmi V and Gautham Ramachandran jointly bankrolled the project under the banner of Blacky Genie & My Left Foot Productions. Shafique Mohamed Ali has edited the movie which has cinematography handled by Sraiyanti and Premkrishna Akkatu.

Gargi marked Sai Pallavi's return to Tamil cinema after a three-year hiatus. Her last theatrical release in Kollywood was Selvaraghavan's Suriya-starrer NGK which was released in 2019. She was part of Netflix's Paava Kadhaigal in 2020, in which she was seen along with Prakash Raj in the segment Oor Iravu directed by Vetri Maaran.

Movie buffs are now waiting to know the various recognitions Gargi is likely to bag in the forthcoming prestigious award events.
