Sardar 2, the upcoming sequel to the 2022 spy action thriller starring actor Karthi in the lead role, has wrapped up its shooting recently, the makers announced. Directed by filmmaker PS Mithran who helmed the first part as well, the Aayirathil Oruvan star will reprise his character as aged and shunned spy agent.

We had already reported that actor Karthi will be reuniting with Sardar director for the film’s sequel. The upcoming project will feature fresh cast, and Prince Pictures is backing the film. Recently, the makers announced that shooting for Sardar 2 has been wrapped up. The team shared photos from Thailand to announce the same.

With Karthi playing the lead role, the film also features actors Malavika Mohanan, SJ Suryah, Rajisha Vijayan and others. Sam CS who scored for Kaithi has replaced Yuvan Shankar Raja, as music composer. A release date for Sardar 2 is yet to be announced by the makers. However, it will release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada.

The makers of Sardar 2 had released a teaser of sorts earlier, hinting that the film will be action-packed.

The film features Karthi playing dual roles; aged and disgraced spy and a police officer. The story follows the spy agent who returns from exile to expose and destroy a bottled water conspiracy which is causing a threat to the national security. The film opened to positive response and starred actors Raashii Khanna, Rajisha Vijayan, Chunky Pandey, Laila, Rithvik, Munishkanth, Avinash, Yugi Sethu and Balaji Sakthivel, among others.
