Raavana Kottam, which has been in the making for quite some time, is releasing on May 12. The film directed by Madha Yaanai Koottam fame Vikram Sugumaran has been produced by Kannan Ravi. Shanthnu plays the lead in the rural drama which has Anandhi essaying the female lead.

Prabhu, Ilavarasu and Deepa Shankar among others will be seen playing important roles in the project which has music by Justin Prabhakaran and cinematography by Vetrivel Mahendran. Rock Prabhu's action choreography is expected to be one of the highlights of the film which has editing by Lawrence Kishore.

At the movie's pre-release event which was held in Chennai the other day, Shanthnu opened up on various hassles the team faced during its filming. He said that the movie's budget went overboard and that they couldn't control it beyond a point. They had set a budget which got over after shooting for half the number of days.

The Master actor revealed that he witnessed some of the worst behaviour from a few people, thanks to their obsession with money which was one reason why the crew's budget unexpectedly shot up.

Shanthnu said, "I learnt a lot about life after working in Raavana Kottam. I couldn't believe how selfish people could turn out to be when they are carried away by their love for money. There were times I would leave the shooting spot, sit alone and cry owing to the experiences we faced. After a point, I thought what if I commit suicide?"

He added that it was not an advisable solution when someone is going through an unanticipated crisis, but he couldn't stop turning emotional while speaking to the press at the event.
