Su from So registers 775K online ticket sales in Week 1, with consistent growth on week days

Su from So, the comedy film, produced by Raj B Shetty and directed by JP Thuminad, that has taken the Karnataka box office by storm has made an impressive Rs 20 cr (net) in its first week in theatres. The film opened with just over 100 shows on July 25, but grew to over 900 per day, as demand grew substantially. On the back of positive word-of-mouth from its premiere shows, the film had a 75K day 1, which grew to 127k by Day 2, and then a slight dip to 95k on the first Sunday.

Day 7 registers best numbers for Su from So

The big test then was how it would hold up on week days and Su From So passed it with flying colours, drawing in audiences to shows through the day. Day 4 to Day 7 has seen consistent 100K+ ticket sales, with Day 7 registering an impressive 147k+. The film now holds the distinction for the highest online ticket sales per hour on an aggregator site. According to estimates, Day 8, Friday, also saw 113K+ sales, despite the arrival of several new films in theatres. The Raj and JP film is expected to hold on to all its shows in the second week as well.

Meanwhile, Su From So’s Malayalam dubbed version released in theatres across Kerala on August 1, distributed by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films. Initial reports from Kerala have also been encouraging, but given that Raj is the only recognisable face on the cast, it may take a little longer for the film to reach audiences.

Written by JP, a popular name in Tulu theatre circles, Su From So follows his character Ashoka, who gets possessed by the spirit of Sulochana from Someshwara and the revelations he has owing to it. The film also stars Shaneel Gautham, Sandhya Arekere, Pushparaj Bollar, Mime Ramadas, Deepak Rai Panaje, Prakash Thuminad, among others.
