Su From So’s JP Thuminad: I am getting acting offers from Malayalam and Telugu, but…

JP Thuminad, the writer, director, lead actor of the hit comedy Su From So is yet to announce his next. He has options, but is also keen to see if Rakshit will give him a role in Richard Anthony

One question that audiences had after the success of the Kannada comedy Su From So was what the team, especially its writer-director and lead actor JP Thuminad, would do next. Actor-filmmaker Raj B Shetty, who’d produced the film was clear that a sequel would definitely not be on the cards and that he’d rather that the team focuses on doing something new. It’s nearly 4 months since the film released and over 2 months that it’s been on OTT, but JP is yet to announce what he will do next.

In an interaction with Udayavani, JP said that he is yet to take up something new. “Discussions have begun with the team about starting a new script, but I have also been getting a lot of acting offers, including from Malayalam and Telugu cinema, besides Kannada, of course. I haven’t okayed anything yet and am taking time to ensure that when I do, I pick a good character to work on,” he said.

Having worked with both Rishab Shetty (on Katha Sangama) and Raj (on Ondu Motteya Kathe, Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye and Su From So), there’s only Rakshit Shetty that JP has not collaborated with yet among the RRR triumvirate. “I am yet to act with Rishab and hope to get an opportunity. I am also keen to work under Rakshit sir’s direction and have told him that if there is a character that he thinks will suit me in his next, Richard Anthony, I would like to be a part of it,” says JP, who has shared screen space with Rakshit in Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B.

As for the offers from other industries, the actor-filmmaker says that he is keen to explore some, especially Malayalam, since he knows the language to some extent. But his priority is to do something in Kannada and then broaden his horizons.
