Swiped OTT release date: Swiped has Lily James as Whitney Wolfe Herd, the founder and former CEO of the online dating and social networking app.

Swiped, the biographical drama based on Whitney Wolfe Herd, the founder and former CEO of the online dating and social networking app, Bumble, has set a streaming date. Lily James plays Whitney Wolfe Herd, who was co-founder of the dating app Tinder, and then went on to launch Bumble as a platform for women, which would fix all the problems she thought plagued the former. The film, written and directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg will be available on JioHotstar (and OTTplay Premium) from September 19, 2025.

The film will have its world premiere in the Gala Presentations section of the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on September 9 before heading to OTT. Swiped also stars Dan Stevens, Myha’la, Jackson White, Ben Schnetzer, Pierson Fode, Ian Colletti, Mary Neely, Dermot Mulroney, Coral Pena, Aidan Laprete, Pedro Correa and Ana Yi Piug, among others. Goldenberg shares writing credits with Bill Parker and Kim Caramele, with music by Chanda Dacy and cinematography by Doug Emmett.

The journey from Tinder to Bumble

An official synopsis of the film is not available, but as per the trailer, Swiped follows Herd’s journey from co-founding Tinder, her subsequent departure, to becoming the founder of Bumble and one of the youngest self-made billionaires. The film is said to focus on what she felt was wrong with Tinder and how Bumble was her way of changing the rules of dating by empowering women with the choice to swipe.

Before she moved on to found Bumble, Herd spent a couple of years with the team that went on to develop Tinder. However, she left in 2014, amid tensions with other company executives. The circumstances under which she left were far from pleasant, as she filed a sexual harassment case, which was settled a few months later. By December that year, she’d already floated Bumble, which became a runaway hit among women, with Priyanka Chopra Jones on board as an investor and brand ambassador for the app in India.
