Hoichoi's Thakumar Jhuli, directed by Ayan Chakraborti, follows Srabanti Chatterjee transforms into Girijabala Sanyal, a woman in her mid-60s whose presence is as steady as the terracotta temples of Bishnupur. Modest in speech and delicate in habits, Girijabala endured the hardest blows of life - widowhood at a young age and the heartbreaking death of her only son.

Grief has not broken her; it has made her more sophisticated. She sees more than she speaks, listens more than she reacts. Her quiet family is shared by her three cats - Hori, Bella and Fonte - her constant, silent companions.

The stillness of her life is gently unsettled when her granddaughter Jaggaseni, played by Divyani Mondal, returns from abroad. A sharp-minded criminal psychology student and the youngest of the Sanyal family, Jaggaseni comes to India to attend the wedding of her close friend Amrapali Singha Roy, the daughter of an influential political dynasty. It seems like a happy reunion, hinting at the fire of tension slowly burning beneath the surface.

Joy turns to horror when Amrapali dies unexpectedly in the midst of the ceremony. Grief ripples through the gathering, yet beneath the sorrow lies unease. Concerned that others ignore the subtle signs, Girijabala cannot accept that it was just bad luck and insists on the truth being revealed.
