Ayushmann Khurrana-Rashmika Mandanna's Thamma has minted over Rs. 5 crore gross in advance booking within two days. The film, thus, heads for a fairly good start. But can it really hold up to the prediction of Rs. 30 crore?

Thamma saw a potential growth in advance booking on day 2. The film had minted Rs. 2 crore gross on day 1. By day 2, it earned over Rs. 5 crore. According to Sacnilk, the film has already earned Rs. 5.69 crore gross in advance booking on day 2.

Can Thamma earn Rs. 30 crore net Box Office by day 2?

Even though the sudden spike in Thamma collections does appear promising, one needs to consider that this is the gross collection and not net collection. The demand for the movie is not yet at an all-time high, and there are very few places where the film is houseful. Thus, even though the trade analysts predict that Thamma will have an opening day Box Office of at least Rs. 25-30 crore, that might not hold true for the net collections given the current trend.

Thamma to face a fate similar to Salman Khan's Sikandar?

Thamma could have benefitted from the extended weekend if the movie had released on Thursday-Friday. However, a Tuesday release, which is the main Diwali day, could prove to be fatal. This is much like Salman Khan's Sikandar strategy, where the movie could have earned a lot more if it would have released on Thursday-Friday rather than Eid day, which fell on a Sunday. Even though Thamma will still enjoy some holiday benefits in comparison (Diwali and limited Bhai Dooj holiday), it might not be able to maximize profits as expected. Thus, word-of-mouth might play a huge role in the movie reaching a wider audience, especially over the working weekdays.
