Aditya Sarpotdar’s directorial Thamma is keeping a steady run at the box office despite the workweek. After opening with Rs 24 crore on Day 1, Thamma raked in another Rs 18 crore (early estimates) on Wednesday (October 22) according to Sacnilk's report. The supernatural horror comedy has collected a total of Rs 42 crore in the first two days of its premiere.
Despite failing to mimic the magic of Stree 2 with its opening day collection (Stree 2 minted Rs 35 crore), Thamma became the second biggest opening for Maddock’s horror-comedy universe. The movie is currently facing some competition from Harshvardhan Rane’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat.
As per the analysis by industry tracker Sacnilk, Thamma secured a good occupancy on the second day as well. It covered an overall Hindi occupancy of 25.97% on October 22. It had an occupancy of 10.21% for morning shows, while the afternoon shows had a huge spike with 29.47%, followed by the evening shows with 31.96% occupancy. The night shows observed the highest occupancy of the day with 32.25%.
The story revolves around Alok, who is bitten by a vampire and transforms into Betaal. He meets a mysterious vampire, Tadaka, and falls in love. However, the love story takes a dark turn when a powerful but evil vampire, Yakshasan, vows to separate them. With a deadly battle between the supernatural creatures and a mystic delve into the Indian folklore, Thamma is a promising watch at the moment.
Ayushmann plays Alok in Thamma, Rashmika Mandanna plays Tadaka, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the villain Yakshasan. Paresh Rawal also appears in a supporting role as Ram Bajaj Goyal. After completing its theatrical run, Thamma will be available on Prime Video.
