Thandel is actor Naga Chaitanya's latest film, set to hit theaters on February 7, 2025. Not many know that Thandel is Chay's costliest film to date, with a production budget of ₹60 crore (including promotional costs). However, the latest update reveals that the makers are already in a safe financial zone, and we have all the details.

Naga Chaitanya's Thandel OTT rights price

OTTplay was the first to report that Netflix had acquired the film's digital rights. Now the news is that the OTT platform spent a whopping ₹45 crore to bag the deal. This means nearly 80% of the film's budget has already been recovered. Allu Aravind's GA2 Pictures, which has bankrolled the film, has also sold satellite, music, and other rights, earning over ₹55 crore to date.

Additionally, the film has been sold for significant prices, with the producers betting big on the Naga Chaitanya-Sai Pallavi combination. In Telugu cinema, Sai Pallavi's films generate massive buzz, and Thandel is no exception. Two songs released so far have become major hits, creating good hype.

Thandel plot and other details

Chandoo Mondeti, known for his blockbuster Karthikeya 2, has directed the film, while DSP has composed the music. Producer Bunny Vas is confident that Thandel will make a massive opening at the box office, making it Naga Chaitanya's highest-grossing film to date.

The story revolves around Naga Chaitanya’s character, a fisherman who accidentally lands in Pakistani waters and is imprisoned. The narrative follows his efforts to escape for the love of his life, played by Sai Pallavi. The chemistry between the two, highlighted in the teaser, is expected to be one of the film's biggest strengths.

Although Thandel faced delays and was postponed twice, its release date of February 7, 2025, seems ideal, as it avoids competition with Sankranthi releases. If the film garners positive word of mouth, it is poised to perform exceptionally well at the box office. The makers, already in the safe zone financially, are optimistic about its success.
