The Acolyte is the latest Star Wars offering but it is not even remotely close to The Mandalorian, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, or Ahsoka era

The Acolyte, a spin-off from Star Wars, is finally out. Even though it prides itself on being from the Star Wars franchise, there’s a reason it is not even remotely what Star Wars was. The Acolyte has no connection to any of the iconic Star Wars characters so far. It is what House of the Dragons is to Game of Thrones. The Acolytes is set way before Star Wars even began and thus, there’s no connection.
Owing to the fact that The Acolyte is based 100 years in the past, there are no elements that make up Star Wars. There are no Stormtroopers and The Empire is not in place yet. Of course, even Luke Skywalker, or Darth Vader were not born yet. There is no war, to call this Star Wars. The only thing common in the theme is that our lead Osha (Amandla Stenberg) is a former Jedi. While in the Star Wars, droids are useful for their masters, this world has minimal droids and they are obviously not yet developed to their full potential.
Since there is a Jedi in The Acolyte, you can guess that it has all the cool stuff the Jedi in the universe have. That’s right, the fancy lightsabers existed even 100 years back. The training happened with the very lightsabers but there never was war. It is safe to say that this was a rather peaceful era, too peaceful for what Star Wars is. There are also witches who can wield what we know as The Force, and they call it The Thread. This was hinted at in Ahsoka, which is a spin-off of Return of the Jedi.

All of the spin-off from the Star Wars franchise have taken the story back in time. There’s a spin-off of many characters, Ahsoka, Mandalorian, Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi, but the original Star Wars movies had a lot to offer. It had edge-of-the-seat thrill, chase sequences and magic was in every nook-and-corner. While some series have managed to retain that magic to an extent, most have not been able to keep up. The Acolyte, so far, is somewhere in between both.
