The Girlfriend is Rashmika Mandanna‘s latest romantic drama that hits the screens on November 7, 2025. Ever since the trailer was released, there has been a decent buzz for this film which talks about toxic relationships.

When Sandeep Reddy Vanga politely rejected Rashmika's film

Deekshith Shetty plays the main lead in this film, which also has Rahul Ravindran, the director himself, in a key role. Speaking in an interview, Rahul Ravindran revealed an interesting aspect of the film’s casting.

Rahul stated that he approached Sandeep Reddy Vanga to do a key role in the film, but the Animal director rejected the offer, saying that he would have loved to do a cameo, but doing a somewhat lengthy role was not that interesting, and he wanted to concentrate on his new film Spirit featuring Prabhas.

Rahul Ravindran said, “I approached Sandeep Vanga and he liked the role, but he said that he was not interested in doing such a lengthy role and that someone from the character artist slot should do it.”

He further added, “I then approached a few other noted stars, but all of them showed no interest, and that is when my team suggested that I should play the role myself.” Rahul’s character is also seen in the promo, and he brings a lot of depth to the proceedings.

Rashmika Mandanna's performance to be the highlight

As per the news, Rashmika Mandanna's character goes through compatibility issues in her relationship with Deekshith Shetty. Rahul also adds that there is a lot of drama and hidden conflict that has been kept away from the audience in the promos, and what that is will be known only when the audience watches the film.
