The Raja Saab: Disappointing word of mouth turns advantage for Chiranjeevi's Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu

The Raja Saab vs Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu

The Raja Saab is one of the most awaited films of 2026, featuring Prabhas as the main lead. The horror thriller has been directed by Maruthi and has Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar, and Niddhi Agarwal as the female leads. After being in the making for the last three years, the film finally hit the screens on January 9, 2026.

The Raja Saab starts on a dull note

Things started on a dull note as the premiere shows in Hyderabad were delayed because the Telangana government delayed the premiere show and issued a GO regarding permission to hike the rates.

The premiere started after 1 AM at night. Adding to this, the film has opened to very disappointing word of mouth across the globe. All those who watched the film are quite unhappy with the way Maruthi has directed the horror thriller.

The film’s runtime is three hours and ten minutes, and this is being termed as one of the biggest drawbacks of the film, especially as it has been released during the current Sankranti time.

Maruthi gets trolled for The Raja Saab

There was so much pressure on Raja Saab to deliver, but things have started on a negative note. Even the hardcore fans of Prabhas are disappointed with Maruthi and the way he has narrated the film in a boring and flat manner.

This dull word of mouth has given the other release, Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu, a solid advantage, which is slated to hit the screens on January 12, 2026. The Chiranjeevi and Nayanthara starrer has become a hot cake. Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu is being directed by Anil Ravipudi, who last made the blockbuster hit Sankranthiki Vastunnam.

There is super hype for this film, and ever since the pre-release event happened and a small song featuring Chiranjeevi was revealed, things have gone to another level. So, all eyes are on the family drama, which just needs positive word of mouth.

If the reviews and word of mouth are good, then there will be no stopping the Chiranjeevi starrer at the box office. There is no denying the fact that Raja Saab will make impressive numbers in the first two days, but things look bleak for the film as the openings are slow and the word of mouth is bad.

Where to stream The Raja Saab on OTT?

Maruthi is known for directing medium-budget films, and for the first time in his career, he has made a film with a superstar like Prabhas. He spent close to ₹350 crore on this film, and half of the film’s budget has been recovered through digital rights, which have been backed by JioHotstar.

However, a chunk of revenue still has to be recovered through theatrical collections, as there are four more films set to release in the next three or four days. Raja Saab will surely find it tough at the box office.

We need to see if the word of mouth helps the film or brings it down in the days to come. Stay tuned for more.
