The Raja Saab X reviews: Director Maruthi's address will be the most searched for on maps reckon netizens after the film opens to disastrous reviews

Prabhas in The Raja Saab
From terrible to average at best - saved only by Prabhas’ efforts- the Telugu fantasy horror comedy The Raja Saab’s reviews from the paid premieres on January 8 and morning shows on January 9 have not been kind to the Rebel Star’s latest. And director Maruthi, they say, is to blame for this disaster, given that Prabhas tried his best to salvage the film, but was let down by poor writing and outdated execution.

Netizens say that while some of the comedy scenes and action blocks worked, the lack of a coherent plot is The Raja Saab’s biggest failings, with many also pointing out that several sequences shown in the trailer did not make it to the final edit. “Yes, Prabhas has entertained us, but Maruthi has failed to do that,” wrote a fan, while another added that his respect for Radhe Shyam director Radhaa Krishna increased after watching Adipurush and The Raja Saab, with both Om Raut and Maruthi unable to handle the scale of the production and Prabhas’ star value.

“The Raja Saab lacks an engaging screenplay. The biggest plus is Darling Prabhas and Thaman’s BGM. The biggest disappointment is Maruthi,” was another comment. Several, though, felt that the film could be a one-time watch for Prabhas only. Some netizens went one step ahead and posted the filmmaker’s address and that Prabhas fans were on the lookout for him.
The Raja Saab was reportedly made on a budget close to Rs 450 cr, and faced several delays during its making. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Samuthirakani, Brahmanandam, Riddhi Kumar, among many others. The over 3-hour long movie opened with the advantage of not having Vijay’s Jana Nayagan alongside in theatres, but going by the reviews, looks like the makers have squandered that golden opportunity.
