Jamie Dornan And His Love For His Beard

It takes a whole lot of courage to be Jamie Dornan, who burst onto the scene with a franchise like Fifty Shades of Grey. This role put him at risk of being stereotyped, but over the years, the actor has striven to break that mold. He has been somewhat successful, as evidenced by his selection for non-stereotypical roles by many filmmakers. A testament to this is The Tourist the second season of which is now streaming on Lionsgate Play in India, and can be viewed with your OTTplay Premium subscription. The show is praised for many things, and Jamie is a legitimate draw for many viewers. Interestingly, his beard has almost become a character in its own right on the show.

Fans love it and they don't want it to go away. Articles have been written suggesting that Jamie Dornan should style his beard in certain ways. Not that he doesn't look good without it. After all, his introduction to a wider audience as the clean-shaven Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey was striking. But it turns out that it’s not just the fans who don't want Jamie to shave off his beard; Jamie himself dislikes his clean-shaven face.

Jamie Dornan on Being Clean Shaven

A decade ago, the star of The Tourist made a very interesting and shocking revelation. He discussed how, despite now being the man of many dreams, there was a time when he had no luck with the opposite sex. Jamie Dornan has spoken about being a skinny boy in school whom girls would call "cute," a term he thoroughly despised.

In a conversation with The Observer magazine, Jamie Dornan said, "I didn't do particularly well with girls at school. I was always very young-looking. And my sister's friends would always say: 'You're so cute.’ I [expletive] hated that. If you are a skinny, baby-faced teenager, the last thing you want to hear is that you're cute."

He then went on to talk about his dislike for being clean-shaven. The actor expressed how uncomfortable it makes him feel: "I feel uncomfortable without it. I find myself moving differently. I don't like myself without a beard."
