JioHotstar announced its new slate of South releases at a star-studded event in Chennai the other day. Several interesting shows were introduced, and one of them is Varam, a crime drama headlined by Vishwadev Rachakonda, the young and happening Telugu actor.

Directed by Aditya, a small teaser was also revealed, showcasing how a poor man who cleans bathrooms for a living becomes rich overnight, drastically changing his life. The show explores how human mentality shifts when someone suddenly acquires wealth. Shivatmika Rajasekhar plays the female lead in this seven-episode series.

Speaking at the launch, Vishwadev said he was looking for something drastic like Varam after 35, as he wanted to break his soft image, and the series was a perfect fit.

Shivatmika also gets a key role and states that Varam is a new-age drama based on human relationships. Another major highlight is that the series is backed by Chiranjeevi’s daughter, Sushmita Konidela. She has produced a few OTT shows earlier, but with Varam, she has gone all out.

The makers did not reveal the OTT release date and mentioned that a more detailed teaser will be unveiled in the coming days. By the looks of it, Varam is shaping up to be a gripping thriller with vibrant visuals.
