A month ago, around 20,000 workers in Tollywood proposed the idea of a strike to meet their demands including better wages. It was expected that all the production works related to Telugu films will come to a standstill if the strike is implemented. However, the decision to conduct a strike was called off after Telugu Film Chamber and Telugu Film Producers Guild held talks with each other.

However, a week ago Telugu Film Producers Guild announced a strike which is being implemented from today. According to sources, the shooting of Telugu movies has come to a halt.

But one crew has successfully managed to commence production works today at Vizag despite the strike. The new schedule of Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu kicked off today in the industrial city. Though movie buffs were curious about the possibility of shooting, it looks like the team has managed to convince those who have announced the strike.

Apparently, team Varisu could convince them as the project is a straight Tamil film. The strike is applicable only for the production of Telugu movies. Amid speculation that the film is a bilingual, makers of Varisu had informed earlier that the project will be dubbed and released in Telugu with the title Vaarasudu along with the Tamil version .

Tollywood filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally is helming the movie which is slated for a theatrical release on Pongal 2023. A few pictures and a couple of videos of Vijay from the airport during his travel to Vizag went viral yesterday on social media.

Billed as a family drama, the movie has Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Jayasudha and Srikanth among others essaying key roles in it while Rashmika Mandanna has been paired opposite Vijay for the first time.
