Vetri Maaran's Viduthalai Part 1, which hit screens on March 31, opened to positive reviews from several quarters. The movie which is based on writer Jeyamohan's Thunaivan stood out owing to a few reasons. The film culminated on an intriguing note, leaving viewers curious about its sequel.

Soori aced the role of a police constable who is unaware of the issues that are likely to hunt him. Vijay Sethupathi in the role of a Naxalite, Gautham Menon as a smart cop and Chetan as an egoist cop stood out in the movie which was bankrolled by Elred Kumar of RS Infotainment.

The project was released in Telugu under the title Vidudhala Part 1 after a couple of weeks. The movie started streaming on Zee5 recently with director's cut, offering unseen sequences to movie buffs. The digital platform had also announced recently that the film attained a huge feat after its OTT premiere.

Needless to say, Viduthalai Part 2 is one of the most-awaited sequels in Tamil cinema this year. The makers are yet to announce its release date amid various speculation doing the rounds on social media.

Soori has now spilled the beans on it. In an interview with a popular YouTube channel, the actor said that the team is planning to release it this year somewhere around October end. With Vijay's Leo already announcing its arrival on October 19, film lovers are wondering if both the projects would be hitting screens around the same date.

If it manages to release in October, there would be a seven month gap between the two parts. Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan also had seven months' time between the release of its two parts.
