  • Part 1 ends with Wednesday unconscious and a preview teasing her survival in Part 2.

Part 1 of Season 2 of Wednesday concludes in a cliffhanger, revealing new plot strands and adding to the show's twisted lore. Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), who vanquished the Hyde and his master in the first season, is once again entangled in a fresh supernatural enigma. The murders in Jericho have picked back up speed, and a vision suggests that Enid, played by Emma Myers, her best friend and flatmate, could be the next victim.

Murderer who controls birds

The murderer this time is an avian—someone with the ability to command birds. A bulletin board with the names of misfits and the word "Lois" repeated appears in Sheriff Galpin's (Jamie McShane) files, which she retrieves. Unfortunately, her efforts to stop the murders are unsuccessful.

If These Woes Could Talk (Episode 4) features Wednesday and her grandmama Hester Frump (Joanna Lumley) working together to find empty urns that were supposed to hold the cremated ashes of victims who were social outcasts. Wednesday continues to pursue Lois' trail as she goes deeper into Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital with the help of Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen).

Augustus Stonehurst, a former teacher turned asylum doctor, signed the death certificates, which her protégée Agnes (Evie Templeton) discovers at the same time. His parrot offers Fester a clue—numbers connected to Lois—now that he is elderly and nonverbal.

Bird attack and asylum break-in

When Fester is discovered snooping and Thing (Victor Dorobantu) is almost killed in a bird assault, things start to heat up. Wednesday uses Miss Capri's (Billie Piper) car as a cover to break into the asylum. She sets Fester free, unveiling the mystery of L.O.I.S. (an acronym for "Long-term Outcast Integration Study"). Presumptively deceased social outcasts are actually alive and undergoing experiments in cells.

Judi, played by Heather Matarazzo, who is both Stonehurst's daughter and Dr Fairburn's (Thandiwe Newton) assistant, confronts them. In an immoral attempt to normalise outcast abilities, Judi admits she carried out her father's research. According to her, "Stonehurst wanted to be an outcast. He was developing a method to extract their abilities."

Fester sets off an explosion, freeing the condemned outcasts from their jail. Frances O'Connor, who plays a reserved woman, hesitates, and Wednesday offers to assist her in getting away. Tyler (Hunter Doohan) kills Laurel Gates/Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci) while she attempts to save him. Simultaneously, Owen Painter's zombie Slurp, whom Pugsley rescued, consumes Dr Fairburn's brain and takes Stonehurst's life.

Wednesday left unconscious after facing Tyler

Wednesday struggles to hold her own against Tyler, who is in his full Hyde form. With the arrival of the cops and their gunfire, he hurls her out a window and escapes.

Lying unconscious outside Willow Hill, Wednesday says in a voiceover, "I’ve always dreamed of looking death in the face. But in my final moments, all I hear is my mother’s words ringing in my ears: Maybe I have made everything worse. Much worse."

Part 2 teaser confirms survival

The preview for Part 2 (releasing on September 3) confirms that Wednesday survives, despite the grim ending. She is seen as being in a coma and then waking up. While Enid brandishes a sword, Tyler takes cover in a sewer, and Slurp attends a Christmas funfair.

Magical Mayhem and Mysteries

The conclusion raises numerous questions:

– Who is the woman Wednesday rescued?

– What’s next for Tyler, now free and unchained?

– Will Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) finally help her daughter understand her visions?

– Can Wednesday recover her powers and continue the investigation?

"Something wicked this way comes," as Morticia warns in the teaser.
