Wes Anderson to direct Roald Dahl's adaptation, starring Benedict Cumberbatch

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar will be the next Roald Dahl adaptation by Wes Anderson after The Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Wes Anderson is a filmmaker that is revered by his fans, thanks to his artistic and visually bright filmmaking techniques and unique choice of stories. The latest reports suggest that the director will next adapt a Roald Dahl story.

According to a report by Collider, Anderson will next adapt The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar with Benedict Cumberbatch taking up the role of Henry Sugar for Netflix.

This would make this the second time the filmmaker has adapted a Roald Dahl book, after the 2009 hit, The Fantastic Mr. Fox starring George Clooney, Willem Dafoe, Jason Schwartzman, and more of Anderson's frequent Hollywood collaborators.

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar is a series of short stories by Dahl which includes fact and fiction, including how he became a writer. With elements of what makes Dahl a fan-favourite author in the story and Anderson’s visual style, the movie has all it needs to become another Wes Anderson classic.

Anderson’s latest work The French Dispatch an Anderson style anthology comedy set in the fictional French town of Ennui-sur-Blasé, gives a look into the events that happened following the death of the editor of a newspaper.

The movie has an ensemble cast that includes Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Léa Seydoux, Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, Owen Wilson and Bill Murray among others.

Cumberbatch on the other hand was last seen as Doctor Strange in Spider-Man: No Way Home which has had a great run in theatres and has already broken many box office records. He also received praise for his role as Phil Burbank in Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog, which was released on Netflix.
