Novak Djokovic, at the age of 38, has once again etched his name into tennis history by becoming the oldest man to reach the quarter-finals at all four Grand Slam tournaments in a single season. This milestone came after his commanding 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Jan-Lennard Struff in the Round of 16 at the 2025 US Open.

Novak enters 64th Grand Slam quarters

This historic win marked Djokovic’s 64th Grand Slam quarter-final appearance, further extending his all-time record, as he continues the pursuit of a record-breaking 25th major title. Djokovic expressed his appreciation to the fans after the match, recognizing the special nature of each victory at this stage of his career.

Djokovic’s serve was particularly effective, delivering 12 aces and winning 79% of points on his first serve, a crucial factor in outplaying Struff, who had been a strong contender earlier in the tournament with the second-highest number of aces.

Djoker goes past Roger

Notably, this achievement breaks the previous men’s record held by Roger Federer, who managed to reach quarterfinals at all four majors in one year on eight occasions; Djokovic has now done it nine times, demonstrating his remarkable longevity in the sport.

Furthermore, Djokovic became the oldest US Open quarterfinalist since Jimmy Connors in 1991, who was nearly 39 at the time.

What’s next for Djokovic?

Looking ahead, Djokovic is set to face American Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals, a player against whom he holds a perfect 10-0 record.

His last Grand Slam win was at the same US Open two years ago, making this tournament a poignant opportunity to add another illustrious chapter to his career.
