Two Liverpool newcomers, Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong, made a remarkable entrance by both scoring on their club debuts in the same match, a feat Liverpool hadn't seen since August 2006 when Craig Bellamy and Mark González achieved it against Maccabi Haifa.

In the Community Shield 2025 match against Crystal Palace on August 10, 2025, Ekitike fired Liverpool ahead with his first official goal for the Reds, setting the tone for an impressive performance.

In the 4th minute of the match, Writz found Ekitike at the edge of the box on the left. Ekitike then made a quick turnaround and went for a powerful, curling shot with his right foot to hit the lower right corner of the goal.

However, in the 17th minute of the match, Jean-Philippe Mateta equalised from the penalty spot as Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk fouled Ismaïla Sarr inside the box.

Shortly after that goal from Mateta, Frimpong restored Liverpool's lead with a stylish goal of his own. Szoboszlai changed the play from left to right with a long cross. Frimpong received the ball well and made a quick entry before attempting a cross. He did not appear to hit the cross perfectly, but the Palace goalkeeper Henderson was fooled by it and could not stop the lobbed ball from going inside the goal.

This rare milestone highlights the significant summer signings Liverpool has made. Ekitike, a £69 million forward known for his blistering speed and 22 goals last season, and Frimpong, a defender praised for his pace and skill, have both started their Liverpool journey with immediate success.
