Bangladesh’s good start with the bat

While chasing 169 against the mighty Indians, Bangladesh lost an early wicket as Tanzid Hasan tried to loft an away-going delivery from Jasprit Bumrah. Tanzid, who scored only 1 off 3, managed a leading edge to Shivam Dube.

Batting at three, Parvez Hossain Emon could not get a touch to Jasprit Bumrah’s first seven balls to him. All the outswingers from Bumrah were too good for the left-hander to get a single off. The lone inswinger from the Indian pacer struck him on the pads, and the DRS confirmed it was pitching outside the leg stump.

But it was Saif Hassan, who had scored a gritty fifty during Bangladesh’s win against Sri Lanka in Super Four, who tried his luck and kept swinging at everything. After managing an edge for a four, he smacked Hardik over the top for a boundary.

However, Emon made a solid comeback with two boundaries against Varun Chakravarthy’s first over and then hit a big six against Jasprit Bumrah to help Bangladesh cross forty inside the powerplay.

Bangladesh needed 125 runs from 84 balls after the end of the first power play.

What happened in the first inning?

Earlier in the first inning, Bangladesh asked India to bat first, and despite a solid start from Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, India could not capitalize in the middle overs and finished only with 168/5 in the first inning.

Abhishek Sharma was the pick of the batters with 75 from 37 balls for India. Meantime, Rishad Hossain with 27/2 was the best bowler from the Tigers’ end.
