During the nail-biting IND-W vs PAK-W clash in Colombo at the ICC Women's World Cup 2025, Jemimah Rodrigues had a narrow escape from an early exit when Diana Baig’s delivery was ruled a no-ball. This twist became a turning point for India as they fought to recover from early blows delivered by a fired-up Pakistan bowling unit.

Pakistan asked India to bat first

India’s innings got off to a rocky start after being sent in to bat, with early dismissals of Smriti Mandhana (23) and Pratiksha Rawal (31) piling pressure on the middle order.

Matters took a turn for the worse when captain Harmanpreet Kaur (19 off 32) fell, leaving India scrambling to regain their footing.

In the midst of this, Harleen Deol showed resilience in anchoring the innings while the team adjusted to the conditions.

Jemimah survived luckily

Jemimah Rodrigues, who had a forgettable outing in the tournament so far, including a duck against Sri Lanka, and was notably left out of the 2022 Women's World Cup squad, found herself at the center of one of the game's pivotal moments.

During the 27th over, in the third delivery of the over from Diana Baig, Rodrigues, who was only on 2, appeared to have edged the ball behind to the wicketkeeper, which would have meant her dismissal.

Initially, the fielding side and crowd believed Rodrigues was out, and the umpire raised his finger accordingly. However, the situation changed a few moments later.

Jemimah herself had nearly walked back to the dressing room, but the TV umpire notified the standing umpire that it was a no-ball. The no ball helped India to remain in the match as they were not able to get going and dominate the Pakistani bowlers during the match.

India are currently 141/3 after 31 overs. Harleen Deol is unbeaten on 42 from 57 balls, alongside Jemimah Rodrigues, who is unbeaten on 22 from 27 balls.
