Not very long ago, BCCI made a rather special gesture by handing out a 'Golden Ticket' to three of India's biggest superstars, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and actors Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan. The ticket offered the celebs the privilege of accessing all 48 games of the ongoing ICC men's cricket World Cup 2023 along with VIP treatment at the various stadiums across India.

And according to the latest reports, the trio of Sachin Tendulkar, Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan will grace the all-important game of India vs Pakistan on October 14, which is to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. To top things off, the much-awaited clash between India and Pakistan will also boast a special performance by Arijit Singh along with other lightshow and dance performances. The latest reports state that the pre-game special programme is set to begin at 12:40 pm and conclude at 1:10, making way for the all-important toss scheduled at 1:30 pm.

Netizens share their two cents

As expected, BCCI's decision to include a special ceremony for the upcoming game has attracted a lot of varied opinions from social media users. A section of them are of the viewpoint that the India v Pakistan match alone should not warrant such fanfare, especially considering the World Cup is already underway. "So World Cup is starting from 14TH October," wrote one user with a hint of sarcasm to suggest that it is unwise to give the October 14th match so much importance. "Jos Butler and Tom Latham standing in the corner- Ye hai tumhari Equality🤣🤣" wrote another user to highlight that despite all the accolades and the wins, none of the other teams playing at the World Cup 2023 have received the kind of attention and favour that the India v Pakistan game has.

Although a few of the responses to this news were positive, it is safe to say the general public is anything but thrilled about the pre-game ceremony for the upcoming match. Many comments have pointed out that considering that the tournament has gotten off to a slightly lukewarm start with respect to crowd turnouts, a similar event could have been organised on the opening day instead. Regardless, the India and Pakistan contest will prove mighty crucial not only for the sake of the tournament but also for the semi-final race, which is currently riddled with multiple contenders. Both India and Pakistan would feel at this point that they boast a great chance of making the cut and the win on October 14, more than anything else, will prove as a psychological boost. The game has garnered extraordinary attention from cricket buffs over the past few months with tickets being sold at whopping prices.
