Before India takes on Zimbabwe, in the Super 8 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium, South Africa's Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi dismantled the West Indies with early strikes.

The iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad witnessed a fast-bowling masterclass on Thursday afternoon as South African pace duo Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi continued the form they had shown against India and ripped through the West Indian top order in the Super 8 fixture. Both Rabada and Ngidi took two wickets each within the first five overs and dismissed four batters as the scorecard looked 47/4 for the West Indies.

Unlike their game against India, South Africa won the toss and chose to field first, and they did not wait long to make their presence felt. Although West Indian captain Shai Hope got off to a flier, it was Kagiso Rabada who dismissed him and broke the momentum for the West Indies. Just in his first over, Shai produced an edge off Rabada to give an easy catch to Quinton de Kock, who did not make any mistake to give South Africa their first wicket.
South Africa then followed it up shortly with a spectacular diving catch by Keshav Maharaj as Rabada dismissed the tournament’s second top-scorer, Shimron Hetmyer, on 2.
Lungi Ngidi then joined the party, dismissing the said Brandon King, who was batting on 21, before cleaning up Roston Chase, just for 2. The West Indies, known for their power-hitting, found themselves gasping for air as Rabada finished his opening spell with an outstanding bowling figure of 2-for-7 in two overs.

As we have already discussed in this article a South Africa win over the West Indies will be a blessing for India. If South Africa goes on to win the rest of their games and India also wins against Zimbabwe and the West Indies, India will finish in second position in their group without any effect of net run rate.
