Everything in and around the DCU at this moment is so chaotic that there is no way the world is not hooked to every update that is coming out of the newly revamped realm from the world of superheroes. After James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the reins and gave DCU a completely new face, they are now making movies from the roster to begin the new dawn. While technically Creature Commandos will bring the new era of DC, the live-action world will only kick-start with Superman: Legacy, set to hit the big screens across the world on July 11, 2025. But that is not the only live-action project that the studio is working on. The last two days have been very busy for the studio.

In the last two days, we have heard about a Spider-Verse-like animated Batman universe, the Justice League: Crisis On Infinite Earth Part Two which saw the release of its trailer that has led to a pool of dissections and much more. There was also James Gunn revealing the inspiration behind his Superman, a picture from the sets that gave out a lot more than the studio head intended to, and a lot more. Seems like the craze for DCU will only intensify with all these exciting updates and the reign has just begun for the studio that is working on Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.

Now, below are the five biggest updates that come out of the DCU realm. Some confirmed, some hearsay rumors, but all very strong to pump you up for what’s to come from the world that is being built from scratch by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Read on and join us as we are already curious to know more about everything from the roster.

Superman: Legacy Logo

It is given that Superman: Legacy is going through table reads and rehearsals as the cast and crew have assembled to shoot the movie. The new reports from Direct claim that a new logo from the table read has made it to the internet and that reveals that the Superman symbol is from Kingdom Come, which means that the movie might be inspired by the same comic. Additionally, it is being said that the official logo for Superman: Legacy will also be similar to that of Kingdom Come. Only time will tell.

Superman: Legacy Set Photo

No one is as excited as James Gunn at the moment, who is finally on the sets of Superman: Legacy after working on the production of it for over a year now, and the latest picture screams happiness. The filmmaker has shared a new selfie on his Instagram handle where he is seen with Freddie Stroma and Jennifer Holland. He captions it saying that the two young stars are not in the movie before people speculate it. But the eagle-eyed fans are not going to leave the picture without dissecting it even if most of it has only Gunn. They have now spotted Nathan Fillion in the background of the picture. The actor plays Green Lantern in the movie and DCU if you are uninitiated. Check out the picture below.

Andy Muschietti Still With Brave And The Bold

If there is another big project after Superman: Legacy in Chapter One: Gods And Monsters of DCU it has to be Brave And The Bold which is all set to bring Batman and his son into the world of DCU. So far the only name attached to it is Andy Muschietti, who last directed the infamous The Flash for the studio. There were rumors that the filmmaker had quit the project, but the latest one says that he is still working on it. There is not much revealed about the new Batman movie and the cast is yet to be done. There are no names attached to the character as of yet.

Batman Beyond Pitched To WB Last Year

Before James Gunn and Peter Safran took over and announced The Brave And The Bold, Patrick Harpin and Designer/Producer of Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Yuhki Demers were working on an animated Batman movie that would have led to Michael Keaton passing on his mantle to a young cape crusader and the studio moving away from Ben Affleck. Demers has now revealed this in a tweet on X and also released glimpses of the concept art for the film.

The post read, “5 months ago Patrick Harpin walked into @wbpictures @DCofficial and pitched a 𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 Animated Feature. Before we pitched, they warned us "there is absolutely no way we can do a 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 movie", but they loved our enthusiasm. We pitched the outline for the entire film, and what started as a 'never' turned into a 'maybe'. In the time since, we've been pitching our way up the company hoping to get to @jamesgunn. But for now, here's a taste of what we've been cooking.” Check it out below.

Joker 2 Crosses $200 Million Budget

This shouldn’t come as a surprise but it is big news, as Variety has reported that Joker: Folie à Deux aka Joker 2 ‘s budget has exceeded the $200 Million mark. What is fascinating about this update is that this is more than double what was invested in the first part, which was made at a cost of $60 Million. For the sequel, Joaquin Phoenix, who plays the titular part, has been given $20 Million, and Lady Gaga, who makes her DCU debut as Harley Quinn, is getting $12 Million. Joker 2 is set to release worldwide on October 4, 2024.
