Acting legend Amitabh Bachchan is also swept over by the spiritual fervor that has engrossed the country with the upcoming inauguration of the long-cherished Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, as he bought a plot in Ayodhya, days before the temple’s consecration on January 22, 2024.
Though the developers have not revealed anything officially, due to their client confidentiality stature, internal industry sources had revealed to Hindustan Times the cost and size of the plot. The plot of 10,000 square feet was estimated at ₹14.5 crore.
Where did Amitabh Bachchan buy the plot and why?
Big B bought the land in The Sarayu, a 7-star ensemble use enclave in Ayodhya, by Mumbai developer Abhinandan Lodha’s company. The plot is near the Sarayu River and located 15 minutes away from The Ram Temple and 30 minutes from the Ayodhya international airport.

Amit Ji, as Amitabh Bachchan is respectfully addressed, spoke on his investment in the project and expressed his interest in embarking on a journey with The House of Abhinandan Lodha’s The Sarayu, as the project is based in Ayodhya, a city that has a special place in his heart for its ‘timeless spirituality’ and ‘cultural richness,’ that does not care for geographical boundaries.
The senior Bachchan felt this marked the beginning of his journey into the soul of Ayodhya, a place where tradition and modernity interweave to create a flawless emotional tapestry that ‘resonates’ deeply within him.

And then he named Ayodhya the ‘global spiritual capital,’ further expressing his desire to build a home there. Since the actor’s birthplace, Prayagraj (previously Allahabad), is only a four-hour drive away from Ayodhya, it can also be an additional nostalgic influence while purchasing the land.
Amitabh Bachchan is the 'first citizen' of The Sarayu
The Sarayu is also set to partner with Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts to have a five-star palace hotel. It will be officially launched on January 22, as well, and is scheduled to be completed by 2028. An interesting milestone for The House of Abhinandan Lodha is the fact that Amitabh Bachchan is the ‘first citizen’ of The Sarayu, as revealed by Abhinandan Lodha himself.
