Viineet Kumar Siingh garnered a lot of appreciation for his performance in Anurag Kashyap's 2018 film, Mukkabaaz. The actor played the role of a boxer Shravan Kumar Singh in the movie. Although Viineet was lauded for his performance, the film didn't work well at the box office. Recently, when OTTplay exclusively interviewed Siingh, he expressed his wish to see Mukkabaaz re-release in theatres.
In an interview with us, Viineet Kumar Singh reflected on Mukkabaaz's poor box office performance despite good feedback. "People praised Mukkabaaz and they liked the film a lot. They gave a lot of love to the character. Even today, people watch Mukkabaaz and talk about it but the (box office) numbers were not big. I had to face a lot of problems because of that," recalled Viineet.
The actor opined that when a film works well, good things happen to an actor. "But people didn't watch Mukkabaaz in theatres in huge numbers. I had to work hard for more six to seven years. I had to think about how to go about it," he added.
Fast forward to 2025, Viineet feels Mukkabaaz will work well if it gets re-released in theatres today. "I am 100% certain that if Mukkabaaz gets re-released today, it will create a different record. It will record different box office numbers. The film will also receive a different level of love. I request my producers to please re-release my film Mukkabaaz in the theatres," he said.
Continuing the conversation, Viineet Kumar Siingh reacted to his latest release Chhaava's phenomenal box office success.
"I'm very happy. Everyone had a complaint that Viineet's films don't do such numbers at the box office. But now, with these numbers, no one will say aapki koi aisi film nahi hain. I have been trying for a long time to reach a larger number of audiences. And with Chhaava, it has happened. It is a very beautiful film. People have given me space in their hearts," Viineet shared and signed off.
