Rowdy Rathore is the story of a police officer, Vikram Rathore (Akshay Kumar), who is murdered by the goons. Shiva, who is a lookalike of Vikram agrees to avenge his death and save the village from the shackles of the villains after hearing his story. The Vikramaditya Motwane directorial Lootera is based on a part of the short story "The Last Leaf" by O. Henry. Sonakshi plays the role of a Zamindar’s daughter (Pakhi) opposite Ranveer Singh’s Varun Shrivastav, who is an archaeologist. Mission Mangal is loosely based on India's first interplanetary expedition Mars Orbiter Mission by the ISRO scientists. The film follows the journey of the scientists who dedicatedly worked on the mission. Sonakshi plays the role of Eka Gandhi, who is a Propulsion Control Expert. Lingaa marks the Tamil debut of Sonakshi opposite Rajinikanth. The story revolves around a petty thief (Lingaa played by Rajinikanth) who learns that a dam that was built by his grandfather, Raja Lingeswaran, is now being demolished. He then vows to save it from corrupt politicians. The K. S. Ravikumar directorial also features Anushka Shetty and Santhanam in important roles.
