The political satire comedy film, co-written by Sacha Baron Cohen, Alec Berg, David Mandel, and Jeff Schaffer, features Cohen’s fourth time playing the role of the main character, Aladeen. Directed by Larry Charles, who directed Cohen’s previous mockumentaries Borat (2006) and Brüno (2009), the movie revolves around Admiral General Aladeen, who is the dictator of the fictional Republic of Wadiya. The oppressive ruler travels to New York to address the United Nations council but ends up getting kidnapped by a hitman hired by his uncle, Tamir. The story navigates the aftermath of his fortunate escape from the hitman and his encounter with Zoey, a human rights activist. With cinematography by Lawrence Sher, the cast includes Anna Faris as Zoey, Ben Kingsley and Jason Mantzoukas, among others.
