The dual actors and writers strikes of 2023 may have delayed several releases across film and television. However, with strikes finally reaching an amicable conclusion, studios have finally confirmed their calendars for 2024. For today’s List Hai Toh Hai podcast, we take a look at some of the anticipated new TV shows of 2024.
Masters of the Air - Apple TV+
The first title on this list is Masters of the Air, helmed by John Orloff and John Shiban. Based on Donald L Miller’s book Masters of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany, the series served as a companion TV show to the critically acclaimed Band of Brothers. The plot follows the 100th Bomb Group of the US Force during World War II. Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Barry Keoghan, and Ncuti Gatwa among others essay prominent roles in the Apple TV+ original series which is co-produced by Hollywood A-listers Tom Hanks and Steven Speilberg. Masters of the Air will release on Apple TV+ on January 26, 2024.
Fallout - Prime Video
Bethesda Game Studios may have taken a hit on their reputation in recent years, especially after the disastrous launch of 2018’s video game Fallout 76. However, the studio that brought Elder Scrolls and the acclaimed Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 has reaffirmed that they remain committed to expanding the franchise. As part of this initiative, they have greenlit a TV adaptation for Prime Video, with creators Westworld Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy serving as showrunners. Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, and Walton Goggins play prominent roles in the series set in a post-apocalyptic world after a nuclear fallout in an alternate reality retrofuturistic world. Fallout will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video on April 12, 2024.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith - Prime Video

Mr. & Mrs. Smith will premiere on February 2nd, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video.
Avatar: The Last Airbender - Netflix
Avatar: The Last Airbender is widely regarded as one of the greatest American animated shows of all time. In 2010, M Night Shyamalan directed a live-action film adaptation, in what could be described as one of the worst films of all time with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of just 5%. Fans of the beloved franchise were justifiably outraged. However, with Netflix’s success with the recent One Piece adaptation, fans have renewed optimism that the Netflix live-action series scheduled for next year could become a success. Helmed by Albert Kim, the series promises to faithfully adapt the animated show. Avatar: The Last Airbender will drop on Netflix on 22nd February 2024.
Shōgun - Disney+ Hotstar
Fans of the hit video game Ghost of Tsushima have been clamouring for a few years that veteran Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada be cast as Lord Shimura in the live-action adaptation of the game. While the fandom may not have ultimately received what they hoped for, they can still be thrilled by the fact that Sanada has been cast as a samurai lord in the TV adaptation of James Clavell’s novel, Shōgun. Helmed by Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks, the series tells the story of a samurai lord or Daimyo, an English sailor, and a female samurai set in the 1600s in feudal Japan. Shōgun is scheduled to release on 27th February 2024.
3 Body Problem

However, the divisive final season of Game of Thrones may have tarnished their glowing legacy. After a brief hiatus, the duo are back to helm a TV series for Netflix, alongside True Blood writer Alexander Woo. Titled, 3 Body Problem, the science fiction series is based on Liu Cixin’s eponymous novel. The series stars Jovan Adepo, Benedict Won, Tsai Chin, Eiza González, and, Game of Thrones stars John Bradley and Liam Cunningham among others in lead roles. The story is set in an alternate reality during a fictional past, present, and future, where an alien invasion could potentially create an apocalypse. 3 Body Problem is set to premiere on 21 March 2024

One that offers a distinctive edge to the superhero franchise, and sets itself apart from the templatised films of the same genre. The Max original series will feature Colin Farell reprising his role as the gangster, with How I Met Your Mother star Cristin Miloti set to play the role of Sofia Falcone, the daughter of slain mob boss Carmine Falcone.
