Adah Sharma is gearing up for the release of her film Bastar: The Naxal Story, directed by Sudipto Sen. Produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, it is Adah’s second collaboration with Sudipto and Vipul after the 2023 hit The Kerala Story. While her earlier film did well at the box office, it invited the scrutiny of many who called it a propaganda film. It seems that Adah is still replying to the propaganda claims. Responding to questions about the same, Adah said that she cannot force people to watch her films and that they should be allowed to say whatever they want.

Adah Sharma responds to people calling The Kerala Story a propaganda film

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, when Adah was asked if she was concerned that her new film, Bastar: The Naxal Story, would also receive a similar 'propaganda film' tag, she said that people should be allowed to say what they feel because our country allows freedom of speech, emotions and thought. She added that if they have the freedom to make a film, others have the freedom to not like a film.

Speaking about the intense backlash that The Kerala Story received, Adah said that she initially wanted to tell people, “Pehle dekh lo fir bolo (first watch the film, then decide).” She added that, with time, she has realised that she does not have the right to make people watch her films. So, even without watching it, if somebody doesn’t like her film, she leaves that to them.

Adah said that her character in Bastar: The Naxal Story had quite an impact on her psyche. But she was quick to add that if such a character does not take a toll on an actor, then she would not be human.

Comparing the shooting of The Kerala Story and Bastar: The Naxal Story, she said that the shoot of her 2023 film was very intimate, but in Bastar, there were hundreds of actors on set. Adah added that she feels fortunate to have worked with Sudipto and Vipul Amrutlal Shah again.

An exciting year for Adah the actor

Adah pointed out that she has had an exciting year as an actor because it has not even been a year since The Kerala Story was released and audiences have already got to see her in Commando and the comedy Sunflower Season 2.
