Looks like the stage is perfectly set for Om Raut and Co. to create new box office records as the team gears up for the massive release of Adipurush. The mythological film comes as a lavish reimagination of the epic Ramayana with Prabhas essaying the role of Lord Rama (Raghava) and Kriti Sanon playing Sita Devi (Janaki). Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh/Ravana will be the chief antagonist with Sunny Singh, Devdatte Nage, Vatsal Seth and others, too, playing prominent roles in the film.
Adipurush is set to arrive in cinemas worldwide on June 16, 2023, but the celebrations seem to have begun much earlier for the audiences. The film's advance bookings opened on June 11 and should this pre-release hysteria translate into box office figures, we certainly have a bona fide global blockbuster in store.
The latest reports inform that the Hindi version of Adipurush has already sold tickets worth close to Rs. 2.5 crores with the 3D version of the film contributing a vast majority of it. The Telugu version of the film, thanks to Prabhas' popularity back home, is doing considerably well in its own right.
What's pleasantly surprising in this vein is the pre-release performance of the Kannada dubbed version of Adipurush. Unlike in the past, when Kannada versions of big pan-Indian releases were barely allocated any screens, team Adipurush has consciously chosen to give the people of Karnataka what they have wished for.
Adipurush (Kannada) has close to 25 shows to its name in Bengaluru alone and for the first time ever, in the case of a Kannada dubbed version of a film, early morning shows, too, have been allotted. Fans can catch Prabhas & Co. in Kannada as early as 4:55 am on June 16.
KRG Studios, which has previously distributed major releases such as KGF: Chapter 2, Kantara, 777 Charlie, Dasara, etc., has taken up the task of distributing Adipurush across Karnataka. Karthik Gowda, founder of KRG, informs us the team has allocated 300-350 screens for the film which includes all five versions.
