Adire Trailer

Directed by Adeoluwa Owu, the film chronicles the life of a Nigerian sex worker/prostitute who moves into a small town to start afresh and begins a lingerie business. However, things turn murky when a morally upright preacher’s wife gets angry with her. In the trailer, exclusively on the Netflix app, we see Adire listening to the large crowd of town women in her house, who dub it a haunted house with evil forces invading the place. They narrate some stories and Adire comes and prays to the church to ward off the evil, but she rebuffs everything and laughs it off. The fun begins when small-town prejudices and religious stereotypes take center stage, with Adire stuck in the new life.

The movie signifies how small-town people easily blend reality and myth. Their stereotypes take the form of paranoia without anyone knowing. Here the trailer reflects upon the preconceived notion of a sex worker and her visiting the sacred place of church.

Adire Cast and Plot

Written by Jack’enneth Opukeme The plot revolves around a sex worker who switches careers and becomes a businesswoman doing a lingerie business. However, this brings her to the centre of the rage of a religious preacher’s wife. Kehinde Bankole stars as the main protagonist and sex worker, along with the promising supporting cast: Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Femi Branch, Yvonne Jegede, Yemi Blaq, Ifeanyi Kalu, Idowu Philips, Lizzy Jay, Ibrahim Chatta, Kelechi Udegbe, Tomi Ojo and others.
