The team of the upcoming Kannada film 5D recently released a teaser to announce that it would be in theatres shortly. Led by Adityaa and Aditi Prabhudeva, the film has been directed by veteran filmmaker S Narayan. Incidentally, 5D is a milestone for both Adityaa and Narayan – it is the 25thfilm in the actor’s career and the 50th directorial venture of the filmmaker. The film, which was completed way back in August 2021, is finally set for theatrical release. 5D will be in theatres on February 9, a date which is slowly beginning to get crowded. Already two other films, Sangeetha Bhat’s Klaantha and Pruthvi Ambaar’s Juni have booked the date.

5D, meanwhile, is a suspense thriller about the medical mafia, and, according to the teaser has Adityaa playing a masked vigilante. Speaking at the teaser launch, Adityaa said that it is a privilege working with a filmmaker of S Narayan’s calibre and that it was destined that they work together on this milestone feature. Turns out, Adityaa had offers to collaborate with Narayan earlier on in his career, but for some reason or the other, it never worked out, until 5D. That he says, worked out well, because it meant that he had some work experience under his belt before working with a filmmaker like Narayan, who has done films with some of the biggest stars of Kannada cinema.

The film, according to Adityaa, will provide an answer to everyone who’s been asking why the Kannada industry does not produce quality cinema. 5D, he says, has different content within the parameters of a commercial movie. “There’s a good story, songs, fights, and a good twist in the climax,” says the actor, adding that the way the film ends is his personal favourite. “No one will be able to guess the twist in the climax. It will be the highlight of the film,” he adds.
