For the fans who were worried about Karan Kundrra's car, it is back and probably was never lost (or bought)

Karan Kundrra took his fans by a pleasant surprise by first purchasing a vintage car and in less than a day, he announced that the car has gone missing. It so happens that the car was not missing but used as a part of promotions for his upcoming web series. Yes, that happened. It is the second time in 2024 that bizarre promotions made headlines. First, with Poonam Pandey and now with Karan Kundrra, the fans were left worried but it so happens they actually had nothing to worry about.
Karan’s promotional stint
Despite mourning Poonam Pandey’s death and then calling her out, Karan did something similar in the name of promotions. Even if it was not as extreme and relatively harmless, but for a day, he did get his fans worried and frantically trying to help him find his missing car, which was Karan’s latest purchase from Munnar.
On March 6, Karan announced that he purchased HM Cortessa, which is no longer available in Indian market dealership. By day two i.e. on March 7, Karan said that his car is missing and he is sure that it is not stolen. He claimed to be irritated and asked his friend to return his car. It so happens that the car was never lost in the first place. In fact, now one would wonder if Karan even bought the car or was it just a part of the promotions.
Poonam Pandey’s promotional stint and backlash
Mind you, we are not even in the first quarter of 2024, when both the celebrities pulled off these stunts. Poonam was the first to do so by announcing through her manager that she has died (yes, you read that right, died, never to return). Celebrities mourning and tributaries later, Poonam announced that she is actually alive and the hoax death was to raise awareness for cervical cancer. While some expected that behaviour out of Poonam, others were furious over her little stint. Of course, everybody got a hint when Poonam’s family and team members were unreachable and there was no announcement of her last rites. Now, the whole incident is passed off as a meme on the internet.
Bad publicity good for the project/cause?
The two examples make one wonder if bad publicity is actually good for a project or cause. Although Karan’s publicity stint was on a smaller level, it did affect some people. Poonam’s publicity, as we all already know, faced major backlash. She tried to promote a cause of death (cervical cancer) by claiming that she is dead. Honestly, these kinds of publicity need to die and get their proper burial.
