Agilan teaser: Jayam Ravi impresses with the portrayal of a badass character in this action flick

The teaser of the much-awaited Jayam Ravi-starrer Agilan is here. The one-and-a-half minute video offers a glimpse into the character he is essaying in the action film directed by N Kalyana Krishnan. Ravi will be seen enacting a never-before-seen ruthless role who lives life on his own terms.

His character is referred to as "Harbour Agilan", "A1" and "420" by others because of his uncompromising attitude, while he refers to himself as the "King of the Indian ocean". Ravi plays a don who controls all the illegal activities surrounding a harbour. How he takes revenge on a few people and locks horns with a cop forms the crux of the story.

Priya Bhavani Shankar essays the role of a sincere cop who attempts to hunt down Agilan and his notorious activities. The actress plays a police officer for the first time in her career. Tanya Ravichandran essays another female lead role in the movie which has Madhusudhan Rao, Tarun Arora and Harish Peradi playing key roles.

The makers have announced that Agilan will hit the screens on September 15. The film will be Ravi's theatrical release after three years. Comali (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar) was the last movie of his which was released in movie halls.

Bhoomi, his last outing, had a direct release on Disney+ Hotstar in January 2021. The film had opened to lukewarm response from critics and the audience. Needless to say, Agilan is a crucial film for the star who has the magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan, too, in his kitty.

The big budget Mani Ratnam directorial has been announced as a theatrical release which will hit the screens on September 30 in multiple languages. A film under M Rajesh is said to be Ravi's next project. Priyanka Mohan is likely to be paired opposite him in the untitled movie.
