Aishwarya Rai as Nandini: The actress looks elegant as the Queen of Pazhuvoor in Ponniyin Selvan

After releasing character posters of Vikram and Karthi from Ponniyin Selvan, as Aditya Karikalan and Vanthiyathevan respectively, movie lovers have been waiting for the next surprise from its makers. Though many of them were expecting Jayam Ravi's poster, the team came up with Aishwarya Rai's character poster, leaving everyone thrilled.

The actress is playing Nandini in the much-awaited film; the poster describes her as the "Queen of Pazhuvoor". She looks elegant, to say the least, justifying the description in the poster. As soon as the poster was unveiled, film buffs and fans of the Ponniyin Selvan novel started discussing Nandini's character arc in the story.

The movie marks Aishwarya's fourth collaboration with Mani Ratnam after her debut vehicle Iruvar, Guru and Raavanan. Her presence is one of the highlights of the multilingual film and it marks her return to Tamil cinema after Rajinikanth-Shankar's blockbuster project Enthiran.

Ponniyin Selvan, which has been jointly bankrolled by Lyca Productions and Mani's Madras Talkies, will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi on September 30. The movie is regarded as one of the biggest multi-starrers in the history of Kollywood. The presence of extraordinary technicians in every department is another aspect because of which the movie is riding on high expectations.

For now, fans are looking forward to seeing posters of Trisha and Jayam Ravi which are expected to be out tomorrow and Friday. The film's teaser is said to be releasing next week. An official confirmation is awaited on the same. 

Parthiban, Jayaram, Sarath Kumar, Prakash Raj, Rahman, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Shobita Dhulipala among others are a few other actors who will be seen essaying crucial roles in the big budget magnum opus which is expected to become a landmark project in Kollywood.
