Alia Bhatt on playing an antagonist in Heart of Stone: ‘Tom Harper and I are so like-minded'

Bollywood superstar Alia Bhatt is all set to make her Hollywood debut in 'Heart of Stone'. The upcoming project is directed by Tom Harper and will be released on Netflix on August 11. In the project, Alia Bhatt will be playing a titular role as an antagonist and will feature alongside Hollywood stars Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan.

Ahead of the release of the film, Alia Bhatt has spoken about how she landed on the set of the movie. In an interview with Femina on July 15, the 30-year-old Bollywood diva said, “So, Heart of Stone came to me very quickly. Netflix reached out and said there’s this film Gal (Gadot) is producing, and they want you to read the script.”

Alia even confirmed in the interview that she will be playing an antagonist for the first time in her career. Not only this, but she also mentioned that this is the first time that she will be playing a crucial part in an action movie.

“I read the script, and I loved the fact that I was playing the antagonist. So, I said, okay, I want to meet with the director to see how he’s envisioning it because this is the first time, I’m doing an action movie. So, I connected with (director) Tom Harper; he’s a fabulous guy and had such lovely things to say. We were so like-minded, that was it – in a couple of months, I was on set,” said Alia.

Alia even mentions that the shoot of the film went smoothly despite her being pregnant with her first child. “I was pregnant at the time of the shoot. So, when I started shooting in June 2022, I was actually very nervous because I was worried wondering whether I would start throwing up on set or feeling sick or any of those things. But, thankfully, none of that happened and it was a pretty smooth shoot. That nervousness and adjustment only went away with going through each day. Everybody was also very warm and comforting, and they did their best to keep me comfortable and happy,” Alia wraps up.

Alia and her husband, actor Ranbir Kapoor, welcomed their first child, Raha in November 2022.
