Amazon Studios has acquired the story for Gator and the Egg, an undercover buddy cop movie that will soon become another online release. Amazon has appointed Tricia Brock to direct the movie scripted by BenDavid Grabinski. Steven Soderbergh, Stacey Sher, Michael Shamberg and John Henson will be producing Gator and the Egg. This one is being fast-tracked to shoot late summer, as per reports.

The film is a buddy movie, a Lethal Weapon-esque pairing for the modern era with a romantic tension at the center. Gator and the Egg originated at USA Network as a pilot that was in the location scouting phase when the pandemic hit and USA Network shut down its scripted projects. After it shook loose, Grabinski refashioned the script as a feature film and Amazon saw it as a chance to add a modestly budgeted potential franchise to its slate.

Tricia Brock directed Dummy, which got Anna Kendrick an Emmy nomination last year. Currently Brock is directing two episodes of the hit Netflix series Bridgerton in London. Bridgerton is a period drama series created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes. It is based on Julia Quinn's novels and set in the competitive world of Regency era London's town during the season, when debutantes are presented at court.

Bridgerton premiered on Netflix on December 25, 2020. The eight-episode first season was well received with positive reviews and with a viewership of 82 million households, it was one of the most-watched series on Netflix
