Anushka Sharma is currently in the spotlight after making her Cannes red carpet debut. The actor has always been private about her personal life, and ever since the birth of her daughter, Vamika, in 2021, she has been known for following a strict 'no-photograph' policy for her.

In a recent interview, the actor opened up about motherhood, revealing that the reason she is choosing to do only one film a year is because her daughter needs her more at this age.

"My daughter is at the age where she needs a lot more of my time. Virat is a great father and is very involved as a parent. But she is at an age where she just needs me more. We recognise that. So, I have taken steps to be with her more," Anushka said in an interview with Puma in Bengaluru.

Talking about striking a work-life balance, Anushka said that she wants to enjoy the process of acting by doing only one film, while also giving time to her family. "I enjoy acting, but I don’t want to do as many films as I was doing earlier. I want to do one film a year and enjoy the process of acting, which is what I like. I balance my life that way to give time to my family," the actor revealed.

Speaking more about motherhood, Anushka revealed that motherhood has made her gutsier and made her trust herself more. She said that she takes decisions that she would not have earlier, which has made her more fearless. "Motherhood has given me that, because you have to trust yourself a lot as a parent, since you are making decisions for someone who is so small and incapable in many ways. So, you end up becoming very gutsy and start trusting yourself a lot more. I think I am braver than I was before. I make decisions that I wouldn’t have made earlier. I feel more fearless now," Anushka shared.

She also said that she does not crave external validation and does what makes her happy. "The way I am leading my life makes me happy, and ultimately, I don’t want to prove a point to anyone, whether as an actor, a public figure, a mother, or a wife. I just want to do things that make me happy and make sense to me. I do things that feel right to me. I don’t look for validation outside of myself anymore," she said.

Anushka was last seen in Anvita Dutt’s Qala in a cameo appearance.

She is currently in France for the 76th Cannes Film Festival.

She will next be seen in the film Chakda Xpress, which is a sports drama film based on the life of Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami. Helmed by Prosit Roy, the film, which also stars Manoj Anand and Atul Sharma in lead roles, is set to be released on Netflix.
