We know Office Office was ages ago and that too was a TV show, but do icons really need a bracket to fit in? It walks so Cubicles could fly.

The blooming OTT space in India has been all about experiments and churning out unique content. While doing so, once in a while, the makers stumble upon workplace dramas, which aren’t easy ones to crack. Bringing characters under one roof in a confined space like an office or a campus and creating an entire story and narrative out of it is not an easy job. The Cubicles, which now moves towards a third season that hits SonyLIV tomorrow, is one such show. The TVF-produced program, which has enjoyed three successful seasons, depicts the life of a recent college graduate who entered the corporate world.

Stories like these in the past couple of years have found the audience, and the fact that we were in the confines of our homes due to the pandemic and were missing the office vibe, the colleagues, became our gateway to the idea of collectively working. Be it the reruns of The Pitchers or revisiting the iconic Office Office, it all helped.

So today, as we are a day from the release of Cubicles Season 3, let’s take a look at seven workplace drama series that found an audience and impressed with their content.

Pitchers

Creator: Arunabh Kumar.

Cast: Naveen Kasturia, Arunabh Kumar, Abhay Mahajan, Jitendra Kumar, and team.

Available On: Zee5

No show comes even close to the concept TVF Pitchers introduced to this domain. It was relatable, entertaining, far from the staple content other shows in the genre were offering, and felt like a voice from among us. The show brought out the hustle and the rawness of it so well that there was no sugarcoating along the way. Pitchers turned out to be one of the most loved IPs and deservingly so.

The Office

Creator: Mrittika Sarin.

Cast: Mukul Chadda, Gopal Dutt, Abhinav Sharma, Mallika Dua, and team.

Available On: Disney+ Hotstar.

This is the Indian Office, to be clear. A Disney+ Hotstar offering, The Office was a fun take on workplace dynamics. It wasn’t about the hustle and the nuances but the sheer fun of it all. Of course, there were challenges involved but they weren’t tackled in a serious way but in a lighthearted one. You can relax and binge-watch this show. Mallika Dua is a treat!

Panchayat

Creator: Chandan Kumar.

Cast: Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Chandan Roy, and team.

Available On: Prime Video'

The oddball in the list, Panchayat, is not the quintessential workplace drama, but it is very much a workground for the protagonist, who is brought to a small town in heartland India where he has to bring order to the Panchayat. A slice of life show that spoke to the entire country in a way that also touched hearts that were not aware of the landscape it was set in.

Humorously Yours

Creator: Anant Singh Bhaatu.

Cast: Vipul Goyal, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, and team.

Available On: Zee5.

The recently released season 3 of Humorously Yours can be put into many genres. There is the dilemma of being in a corporate setting but there is also the aspiration to be something else. It mirrors the comedy scene in the country and it also has its own set of challenges. A more unique workplace drama than the rest.

Office Office

Creator:Sony.

Cast: Pankaj Kapur, Asawari Joshi, Manoj Pahwa, and ensemble.

Availale On: YouTube

If there is one word that can define Office Office, it is 'iconic'. A show that gave us Mussadi Lal, a man who enters an office in the hope of getting his work done every day only to witness the antics of that place. The show was cool even before being cool was a trend and there is no way this one could have not been on that list. The show is not available on a streaming giant but is available on YouTube.
