The theatrical release of Thalli Pogathey, which stars Atharvaa and Anupama Parameswaran in lead roles, was initially planned on January 2021. However, the makers postponed the plans, and later, came up with an announcement that it will hit the screens on October 14 as a Dussehra release, along with Arya's Aranmanai 3 (streaming on Zee5) and Sasikumar's Rajavamsam.
But both Thalli Pogathey and Rajavamsam postponed their releases in the last minute. The latter is finally releasing on November 26. The team of the former has now announced that it will release on December 3.
Earlier, there was speculation doing the rounds that the rom-com will have a direct premiere on SonyLIV. The announcement made by the makers today has put the rumours to rest. Directed and produced by Kannan, the movie is the official remake of Tollywood hit film Ninnu Kori (streaming on Amazon Prime Video), which starred Nani and Nivetha Thomas in lead roles.
Amitash Pradhan, Aadukalam Naren, Kaali Venkat, Jagan, Vidyullekha Raman and RS Shivaji will be seen essaying pivotal roles in the film which has cinematography by N Shanmuga Sundaram, editing by Selva RK and music by Gopi Sunder. Interestingly, Gopi was the musician for the Telugu version as well.
Atharvaa was last seen in Thunintha Pin, one of the segments of Netflix's Navarasa, and has Kuruthi Aattam and Address in his kitty. Thalli Pogathey will be Anupama's second film in Tamil after Dhanush-starrer Kodi (streaming on Sun NXT and MX Player). On the other hand, director Kannan, who last made Santhanam-starrer Biskoth (streaming on Zee5), has Eriyum Kannadi, starring Nakul and Sunainaa, up for release.
