John Abraham has not had many kind things to say of the digital space in the past. And it seems that the Attack star still is not ready to make a foray onto OTT anytime soon.
In a recent interaction with The Indian Express, Abraham said that he found it ‘very difficult’ to step into the OTT space. Clarifying that he did not think there was anything ‘wrong’ with it, the actor remarked that he just was not ready for it as yet. For now he considered himself a ‘big screen hero’. “I want to be seen only on the big screen. Will I fail on the big screen? Yes, I’ll fail, but on the big screen. I don’t have a problem even if I get hammered for it,” he said. Abraham also said that he would not discount himself from doing something in the OTT space in the future.
In the past, the star had made his stance clear that OTT projects were not something he was interested in. Speaking to Mid-Day last year, he had said that almost 90% of films which went in for digital releases were ‘bad’.
Abraham’s most recent film Attack had been released in theatres on April 1. Also starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Rakul Preet Singh, the film had witnessed a slow opening during its release day, earning about Rs 3.25 crore. The Lakshya Raj Anand directorial’s slow start has been attributed by some analysts to stiff competition from films like The Kashmir Files and RRR.
Abraham is currently working on Pathaan, in which he will share the screen with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.
