Filmmaker and producer Sooraj Barjatya is well-known for making projects which suited a family audience. Some of his projects include Hum Saath Saath Hain, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, and more. His latest offering is an OTT series Bada Naam Karenge, which can be watched with family. In his latest interview with Mid-Day, the senior filmmaker revealed why he keeps making family-oriented romantic dramas to date.
Sooraj Barjatya was recently asked if Bada Naam Karenge (romantic and family-entertained) would find its place on OTT which is dominated by thriller and gangster dramas. This is when the veteran filmmaker highlighted that many people aren't happy watching gore.
"After the pandemic, a lot of people have moved on to the fire stick. But there are many who want to see something different, who are not happy reading subtitles or watching gore. I believe there is an audience for everything. So, why shouldn’t I make a romantic family drama? I think it’s the right time for us to enter with Bada Naam Karenge," he told the tabloid.
Barjatya added that he can bring family-viewing culture back with his new series, Bada Naam Karenge. He mentioned that the culture, where everyone watches content together, has to make a comeback.
"For my movies, youngsters would come less to theatres. But they’d come to show the film to their grandparents and parents. That is what we are aiming at," he shared.
Bada Naam Karenge has been directed by Palash Vaswani and produced by Sooraj Barjatya. The web show's ensemble star cast includes Jameel Khan, Alka Amin, Kanwaljit Singh, Anjana Sukhani, and many more. This series started streaming on February 7 on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium.
