Beast effect: Fans of Rajinikanth, Ajith and Vijay clash over box office records of their matinee idols

As expected, varied numbers are doing the rounds with regard to the first day collection Beast earned in Tamil Nadu. However, this is nothing new as the scenario is the same whenever a big ticket film releases in the state, thanks to the lack of transparency in Kollywood box office.

Many box office trackers claim that Beast has emerged as the number one film in terms of day one gross in the state, while a few say that it is yet to surpass the record set by Ajith's Valimai which released earlier this year. Some are even pointing out the reasons why the movie is unlikely to have crossed the previous numero uno movie. To make things worse, a few others say that Valimai has never created a record and that it was Vijay's Sarkar which was enjoying the position till yesterday.

Fans of Ajith and Vijay indulging in fan fights is nothing new; but now, Rajinikanth fans also joined the clash on social media. Fans of the senior actor claim that Beast hasn't outperformed Superstar's Annaatthe which was released a few months ago.

According to many of the verified handles on Twitter, four out of five top grossing films on day one in Tamil Nadu belong to Vijay. Ajith's Valimai, which stands at third position in the list, is the only non-Vijay movie which features in the coveted list.

As per the claims of Rajinikanth and Ajith fans, Valimai, Annaatthe and 2.0 are still the top three films in Tamil Nadu with respect to day one numbers.

The sad part is that the Twitter fight will erupt the next time, too, when a big hero's film releases in Tamil Nadu. Though there was news in the past that Tamil Film Producer Council will ensure box office transparency, it is yet to be implemented.
