Calling all TV fanatics! 2024 is almost here, and we have got a fresh batch of shows to obsess over. From returning hits to thrilling newcomers, OTT platforms are upping their game throughout the year. While 2023's SAG-AFTRA strike hit pause on some of your favourite productions, it also ignited a passion for creativity and a renewed appreciation for the power of storytelling, but 2024 is here to fill up the gap!

Shōgun
Based on James Clavell's 1975 namesake novel (from the Asia Saga), it tells a story about Yoshii Toranaga, who is in Bing trouble. Back in 1600, in Japan, all his enemies, the council of rulers, are teaming up to crush him. Just when things look really bad, a strange ship from Europe washes up on the shore of a nearby village. It's a mystery where it came from and what it means, but it might just change everything for Toranaga. After more than four decades of the first mini-series, this Shōgun is the first big series of Clavell's novel, with ten episodes.
Shōgun will be released on Hulu and stream on FX Networks on February 27, 2024.
House of the Dragon Season 2
After a shocking end of Season 1 in 2022 and a year-long wait, things are about to explode between Rhaenyra, who's supposed to be Queen, and Alicent, the king's wife with her own son in line for the throne next year. They're super mad about what happened to Laenor, and the new season posters even say so! Rhaenyra and Alicent want revenge SO badly, they're ready to tear the whole kingdom apart. They won't give up until they get what they want, and this time, things are going to get real dirty.
The prequel to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon Season 2 will be released on HBO Max and JioCinema in the early Summer in 2024.
Echo
It tells the story of Marvel’s superhero Echo aka Maya Lopez. A ruthless past bleeds into Maya Lopez's peaceful hometown. Forced to confront the demons she left behind, she embarks on a perilous journey of self-discovery, unraveling the secrets of her heritage and redefining the meaning of family and belonging.
Echo will be released on Disney+ Hotstar and Hulu on January 9, 2024.
The Brothers Sun
The boss of a tough Taiwanese gang gets killed. His oldest son, Charlie, who everyone calls "Chairleg", has to fly to Los Angeles to keep his mom and younger brother safe. Charlie's brother has no idea about their family's dangerous business, so Charlie's gotta protect him too.
The action-thriller will be released on Netflix on January 4, 2024.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Eleanor, a bookish librarian with a hidden talent for lockpicking, and Liam, a street-smart hustler with a knack for disappearing, never imagined their paths would cross. Yet, fate (and a top-secret agency) throws them together, offering a thrilling escape from their ordinary lives. But the price of excitement comes at a cost, a marriage built on lies, where the line between mission and reality blurs with every stolen kiss.
The thriller-comedy Mr. and Mrs. Smith will be released on Amazon Prime Video on February 2, 2024.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
The live-action series is centred around the journey of twelve-year-old Aang, the current Avatar and last survivor of his nation, the Air Nomads, along with his friends Katara, Sokka, and Toph, as they strive to end the Fire Nation's war against the other nations and defeat Fire Lord Ozai before he conquers the world. Avatar: The Last Airbender also has a feature film, which was released in 2010.
The eight-episode series, Avatar: The Last Airbender will be released on Netflix on February 22, 2024.
Fallout
The series takes us into a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, where the remnants of civilization crowd around Vault 33. The time is somewhere between the 22nd and 23rd centuries, echoing the era of the iconic video games. However, the show carves its own path, venturing beyond the established narratives to tell a fresh tale of survival and community in the irradiated Wasteland.
The ten-episode series, Fallout will be released on Amazon Prime Video on April 12, 2024.
The Boys Season 4
In Season 3, we got to see the boys are hurt, Maeve lost her superpowers, and Soldier Boy's locked up. Even though Homelander's behind bars, he's scarier than ever. Vought's in chaos, and things look pretty bad. Season 4 will give us some emotional moments. Butcher, who is super sick and won't live much longer, messed up big time. He lost Becca’s son and even got kicked out of his leader job. His friends are mad because he told them a bunch of lies. If they don't put their anger aside and work together, something really bad will happen to the whole world. They got to hurry up before it's too late.
While the exact release date of The Boys Season 4 is yet to be announced, it will premier in 2024 on Amazon Prime Video.
Expats
In Hong Kong, a bunch of women from different backgrounds have their lives turned upside down after something big happens. This makes them all think about who's responsible and who needs to answer for it. It's a complicated story, but it's about people trying to figure things out.
The six-episode series, Expats will be released on Amazon Prime Video on January 26, 2024.
3 Body Problem
The series is based on the best-selling book, The Three Body Problem, written by Cixin Liu and tells a sprawling, multi-generational story that spans the cosmos. Set against the backdrop of China's Cultural Revolution, a secret military project sends signals into space to establish contact with aliens. An alien civilization on the brink of destruction captures the signal and plans to invade Earth. Ye Wenjie, an astrophysicist who loses her parents and career during the revolution, makes contact with the alien planet Trisolaris in her top-secret job as a technician on the Red Coast base.
The eight-episode series, 3 Body Problem will be released on Netflix March 21, 2024.
